Review of the LPM Local Positioning Measurement System.
IEEE International Conference on Localization and GNSS, Starnberg, Germany, June 2012.

Kurzfassung:

Precise and accurate position estimation has become crucial in solving many technical problems. In this contribution, an overview of the local positioning measurement system LPM is given, which is based on the frequency-modulated continuouswave (FMCW) radar principle. LPM uses two active transponders (TP) within one measurement cycle, where the first acts as a time reference for all base stations (BS)s and the second is mounted on the object whose position is to be determined. By evaluating the time-difference of arrival (TDOA) at several BSs surrounding the measurement field, the position can be precisely estimated. We demonstrate this using measurement data.
