Abstract:

The subject of the concurrent engineering (CE) has become more and more important in recent years. This trend is due to the increasing complexity and volume of modern automation systems in various technical branches. Moreover, the globalisation of today's world market requires high flexibility and efficiency in the development of complex products. In this paper we discuss the important requirements to master this challenge. Furthermore, we suggest a solution consisting in a virtual design framework for automation systems.
