Kurzfassung:

Safety requirements for railway systems have to be developed in consideration of the potential hazards, which are usually defined by group experts in hazard lists at HAZOP meetings. According to the viewer and the purpose for which they are being developed the hazard description may vary. While a broken chassis screw and a derailment can both be considered as hazards the abstraction layers are completely different. This means that defining a generic hazards list requires a consistent system view and a structured approach. This paper shows the guideline for a generic hazard list using a new system definition for railway systems by using UML class diagrams. Followed by a causal classification of hazard related terms a basic declination of possible hazards is shown.
