Nowadays the challenge of increasing traffic volume on highways and in metropolitan areas cannot be accomplished by extending the road network or installation of road side units. These attempts are bounded in their effect. Homogenization of traffic and positive influence on traffic density and flow can be attained by implementing vehicle-sided lateral and longitudinal control and a rule-base for decision-making of position and velocity. This paper presents a method for the derivation of a rule-base by means of Petrinets and its implementation with a consensus-algorithm.
