3rd SELCAT Workshop

Level Crossing Methodology

Paris, June 23rd, 2008

The SELCAT Steering Committee is pleased to invite you to participate in the 3rd and final project Dissemination Workshop.

Time and Place
The workshop will take place on 23rd of June 2008 (Monday) hosted by UIC (International Union of Railways) in Paris and in conjunction with the organising committee for the 10th World Level Crossing Safety and Trespass Prevention Symposium. The event will commence at 09.00 and will end by 18.00.

Language and Registration
The langue of the workshop is English. Participation is free of charge.

Expected Outcomes
During the workshop the main results of this EU-funded project that commenced in September 2006 and obtained from different work packages will be presented. There will also be a session and discussion on the future way in which safety at the road/rail interface can be developed.

Outline Programme
The workshop in Paris will be organised in 4 main sessions according to the structure of SELCAT project:

  • Introduction and SELCAT expectations
  • Results of the Level Crossing Appraisal and Technology workstreams
  • Level Crossing Methodology results
  • What have we learned and where do we go?

Other Useful Information
Immediately following this event will be the 10th World Level Crossing Symposium - Safety and Trespass Prevention. This will take place from 24th-27th of June 2008 and will be hosted by UIC. So you have the opportunity to participate at the SELCAT workshop and then at the 10th World Level Crossing Symposium as well. Please note that whilst these events are being held in the same venue, you have to register separately. You can do this very easily by clicking on www.levelcrossing2008.com. There will be an exhibition run in conjunction with the 10th World Symposium that will be held over the 4 days from 23rd to 26th June inclusive. Accommodation
UIC have negotiated a certain number of rooms at 3 hotels around the UIC HQ for both the SELCAT workshop and the Level Crossing Symposium: MERCURE, NOVOTEL and HILTON. You are kindly requested to fill in the form and send it back to the hotel you have chosen.

No allocation of rooms has been made at these hotels and availability is strictly on a first come first served basis. There is no special form for these hotels. Please specify when calling that you will be attending a UIC meeting, subject to availability, the Hotel will offer you a negotiated UIC price.
