On October the 2nd, 2014, Technische Universität Braunschweig as represented by Prof. Dr. Ing. Dr. h.c. mult. Eckehard Schnieder and Dr.-Ing. Uwe Becker, renewed the cooperation agreement with Beijing Jiaotong University China as represented by Prof. Baigen Cai and Prof. Tang Tao. The contract has been formally signed at the 10th international FORMS/FORMAT symposium in the new NFF building in Braunschweig, Germany.
The 25th anniversary celebration of the Institute for Control and
Automation Engineering (IfRA) from 1989 to 2002 and since 2002 of the
Institute for Traffic Safety and Automation Engineering (iVA) both of
the Technische Universität Braunschweig took place in the "Haus der
Wissenschaft" on the 2nd October 2014 at 2 pm.
Concurrently,
this 25th anniversary celebration was the occasion of Professor
Eckehard Schnieder's farewell lecture as institute director.
The event started with Professor Thomas Vietor's greeting remarks and Professor Schnieder's last lecture. Furthermore, former and current members of the institute gave a retrospective and prospective view of the scientific research fields of the institute.
Especially, they include the applied researches of the road traffic nd railway traffic and their system-theoretical foundations: automation engineering, safety and dependability and the interdisciplinary understanding. The anniversary celebration was closed with an external view by Professor Dirk Abel of the RWTH Aachen.
The Institute for Traffic Safety and Automation Engineering in
cooperation with the Budapest University of Technology and Economics,
and the Automotive Research Centre Niedersachsen (NFF) will hold for
the tenth times the successful conference series FORMS/FORMAT from the
30th September to 02nd Ocotber at the new NFF building at the research
airport Braunschweig, Germany.
The symposium offers scientists,
practitioners and managers, developers and consultants of automotive
and railway industries as well as traffic system operators with
interest in formal methods, requirements engineering, and
applications in railway and automotive to modeling of human factors and
behavior, an established platform for the exchange of scientific
experience and the transfer of practical description means, methods and
tools for complex automation systems.
The submission deadline for
full draft papers is the 15th May 2014. For more information please

On Septemper 10th, 2014, shortly after the series production of Volkswagen's 100% electric vehicle has started, 3 Volkswagen eGolfs have been handed over to three institutes of the TU Braunschweig. The electric vehicles will be modified to be compatible with the inductive charging infrastructure (Bombardier's PRIMOVE) that has been developed and set up in in the project emil. The modifications are carried out in cooperation with the three research institutes elenia (Prof. Engel), IMAB (Prof. Meins, Prof. Henke), and iVA (Prof. Schnieder) of the TU Braunschweig.
Under the slogan 'Ideas-Interactions-Innovations', the Deutsche Bahn
and the MovingIDEAS partners have invited to its Innovation Workshop
2014 in Berlin on June 30th and July 1st 2014. Around 120
representatives of various mobility and logistics service providers,
small and major industrial companies as well as several universities
discussed in keynote speeches and workshops about different challenges
and ideas concerning future mobility. Thereby, the participants ranged
from the Chairman of the Supervisory Board of Deutsche Bahn AG,
Professor Dr. Dr. Felcht, to students. On the part of the NFF and TU
Braunschweig Vice President Prof. Reimers, Professor Vietor, Prof.
Schnieder, Prof. Pachl and Prof. Siefer participated at the workshop.
In addition to the plenary discussions about potential areas of
innovation and opportunities for cooperation between science, industry
and mobility operators, nine prestigious universities had the
opportunity to present their activities in the field of mobility and
transport at the 'Science Forum'.
On this occasion the NFF and
the TU Braunschweig presented the new projects Battery LABfactory
Baunschweig and Open Hybrid Lab Factory to the visiting representatives
from railway and logistics companies. The displayed Open Lab Hybrid
Factory LEGO model was one of the main attractions on the forum and
starter for many interesting conversations.
